Hello and welcome, I’m Brittany! I am a documentary photographer living in Toronto, specializing in intimate weddings shot using both film and digital.
I first fell in love with photography in the colour darkroom of Concordia University where I earned my BFA in Photography and Art History. After my Montreal days I moved to New York to pursue more schooling - this time an MFA in Photography from SVA.
Since moving back to Toronto I have maintained a steady art practice in documentary photography (you can see that work here!) which allows me to bring my unique perspective and experience in photography to capturing your wedding day. I have exhibited my work in galleries internationally and have been commissioned by various magazines including VICE, New York Magazine, Toronto Life, among others.
I have always been a person with many side hustles (remember the crochet bucket hat phase?); throughout the past 15 years, I have moonlit as a wedding photographer working both with my own couples and with various pros in the wedding industry as a second photographer.
Over the past few years I have really honed in on merging the aesthetics of my art practice with my wedding photography and feel so lucky to work with couples who allow me to show up as my authentic self and trust that I will capture their day as I see it. I generally work with couples who are looking for something a little bit different than typical wedding photography: couples who aren’t looking for photography to be the main event of their day but who want me to document all of the little moments they are missing while they enjoy their day to it’s fullest. Above all, I pride myself on capturing the candids: the joy and tears of family members, the sneaky little kisses between each other and all of the in-betweens.
Although it might sound like photography is my whole life - I also love spending time with friends, meeting new people, riding my bike and sharing food with loved ones. These are just some of the things I draw inspiration and find joy in :)
